She's finally found a place that feels like home…
When Cathy O'Dell buys the Honky Tonk, the nights of cowboys and country tunes come together to create the home she's always wanted. Then in walks a ruggedly handsome oil man who tempts her to trade in the happiness she's found at the Honky Tonk for a life on the road with him…
He lives the good life…
Gorgeous and rich, Travis Henry travels the country unearthing oil wells and then moving on.
Then the beautiful blue-eyed new owner of the Honky Tonk beer joint becomes his best friend and so much more. When his job is done in Texas, how is he ever going to hit the road without her?

Well, you all can't be more surprised than I am, that I actually do like these cowboy romances. Okay, this series does not really take place on a farm or ranch with actual cowboys, but in a bar where cowboys come, and where country music is played. But I like the atmosphere, normal hard working people having a good time.
Cathy came out of a really bad relationship when her cousin Daisy took her in, and later sold her the HonkyTonk, and she is determined to stay there. She loves her work. She is also a part time bookkeeper, as that was her previous job.

And now it is New Year's Eve, the place is packed, and at the stroke of midnight she is kissed by a stranger. A kiss that leaves her breathless!
The next morning her sleep is rudely interrupted when at the back of her beer joint, a construction crew is tearing down trees and making room for trailers. What are they doing on her property? But it is not hers but her neighbours, and he is having a team in to drill for oil. And the boss of those oilworkers, is the stranger who kissed her. So not only will she see him again, they will be neighbours!
And when his power goes down, she has to be a good neighbour and let him into her apartment, even though it is against house rules to have a man in the living quarters above the bar. But he would be freezing if she left him outside. And when his water goes out the next night, she can't refuse him either.

And when her neighbour hires her to do the paperwork when his administrator can't make it to the site, she will have to work in the same trailer he is living in. And so, thrown together again and again, Travis and Cathy can't deny the passion between them. But she has put down roots, and he is a wanderer, already looking forward to his next job in Alaska. How can they ever make this thing between them work out?

And then her ex-boyfriend finds her, and he wants her back, and he will do whatever it takes to make that happen …

I really enjoyed this story. Cathy and Travis are both hard-headed and when they meet, it sure becomes steamy. With Cathy working with Travis on the paperwork for the drill site, and Travis helping out in the bar part time, they are together a lot. It was really fun to read.

And again, this book title refers to a country song. And no I have not yet started listening to country music!

8 stars.

  1. LOL! I don't listen to country either so that might go over my head as well. Still need to get into this genre and this is the author I want to try.

    1. The only country music I know is John Denver. Because I had a fling with a man who never listened to anything else many years ago.
